Offshoring jobs: US and Australian perspectives

A new shift is taking place in the economy. Jobs as we know them will not exist - People will be employed on short-term contracts and countries which are most competitive will dominate industries like China does with manufacturing and India with IT.

This is a document from the Parliament of Australia on the process of 'Offshoring' that is outsourcing jobs to companies in countries that can do the work for a lower price.

There are different studies quoted here predicting the number of IT jobs that will go to India in the next five years: 8,000 from Australia and 500,000 from the US.
